Frequently Asked Questions

Just like every other FAQ, none of these questions are actually Frequently Asked. But I didn't want to clutter the main page with all this stuff, so here's some information for you.

What's the primary focus of this site?

To be very specific, the focus is Maximum Ride fandom as I experienced it. So, a handful of English-language venues between 2005 and 2011.

There's also stuff here that I've just happened to run across and didn't experience in real time, but the timeframe there is about the same.

Why are you doing this?

There are a few reasons...

I think fandom history in general is important, and since no one else was writing about this fandom, I figured I would give it a try.

I wanted my collection of old Maximum Ride fandom stuff to be somewhere more accessible than my hard drive or buried in my Tumblr.

I like sharing things with fellow fans who are newer to the fandom, and I wanted to make that easier to do.

Also I got furloughed from my job very suddenly in early 2020, so all of a sudden I had the time on my hands to try and catalog all this stuff. And then what started as a simple site to store some pictures on just kept growing and growing...

Are you going to cover...?

Generally speaking? Maybe. If I feel like it. I work on this site when I'm in the mood to. It depends on what, specifically, you're asking about.

...the movie?

I'd like to write at least something about the movie -- the idea of a movie was being floated as early as 2005, though it didn't end up coming out until 2016. Don't hold your breath.

...the fandom on Tumblr?

Tumblr fandom is hard to cover unless you were there in real-time. I plan to include a little bit about official Tumblr accounts, but I probably won't delve much into fandom.

...the fandom on Instagram / Pinterest / [other site]?

Probably not. These sites specifically are hard to navigate and archive.

Can I help?

Because I work on this project so irregularly, it wouldn't be fair for me to really collaborate on it with someone. But you're more than welcome to send me a message if you want to.

If you want to say something brief, you can just leave a note in the guestbook. You can also send me an email and I'll post it on the Guestbook page.

If you want to do a full-length write-up on something, neocities is free! (I have to mention it because that's the hosting I use for this site.) Or use whatever hosting you like... then send me an email with a link, and I'll add it to the Links page.

I have a question about the books...

If you need a general plot overview, the Wikipedia articles are decent. If you need more detail, try the fan wiki.
